The hardest thing I can do
The hardest thing I can think
Is to try to think beyond
Where all thought ends in a void
Beyond the me and the you
Beyond the here and the now
At a place in abstract space
Past the edge of consciousness
What was me before I was
What I think I am?
Where will I go at the end
Of what I call me?
Unable to form any words
My body is frozen in place
Now I'm trapped inside my mind
All my words have lost meaning
I'm staring off into space
I'm laughing out of control
Now I wonder when I'll return
To a place so familiar
I can barely start to try
To make sense of all of it
As I feel I'm back in place
I catch myself once again

Ladder to Nowhere

Let's ignore what was here first
All the culture and people too
We shall build a garden
Where once nature flourished free
This was once a quiet oasis hidden from all consequence
Left to live on its own rules, but now there is hardly a trace
Still for those who closely observe, there are trails left in the dust
Somewhere off a highway stop, signs of life now cover the past
How long have you been left here, left to decay in the sun
Who can recall what you once were before they tore you apart
Once there was a unique culture and they have erased it now
They will claim it's for the public but yet it seems for the worse
Now it seems an anachronism in the way of modern progress
Tear down what is in your way, try to build on top of rock
Push the people to the edge, make a profit off the land
Manufacture culture and consent, let the money have its way

Parallel Universe

Behind the gate, behind the facade
Behind the guards, behind all the doors
Lies a place beyond all belief
Stuck in the past with a deadly task
At first it seemed removed from all greed
Slowly it dawned, it was just rearranged
Pretend that it's noble, that it's academic
Hide your games from all scrutiny
Lies from the start and lies to the end
Not as harmless as it was said
Flooding the waves in a heavy arms race
Show no mercy to what's in your way
Get sucked in and caught in the wake
Run with the gun and stop asking why
Nothing is spoken and silence is golden
Thoughts might be the most dangerous of all
Nobody wants to hear them aloud
You've seen much more than you ever asked for
No freedom to move, no freedom to talk
Trapped in this room all day, dreaming of escape
What all was hidden inside of those walls
Where did the money come and where did it go
The fraud and the waste and the speculation
What of the souls who dug themselves in
Reserved and resigned and optimistic
Trying to think while under pressure
Keeping the peace by clearing it out
Looking ahead but never around

The Dyke* March

Out to celebrate on another Friday night
Climb out of the U-Bahn in the middle of the square
The epicenter of the chaos is ready for a show
The atmosphere is quiet but won't be for long
Gradually the place starts filling up
Sirens whirr as the cops get in place
Traffic stops and the chants get louder
The right place at the right time
Flags round the corner, the streets are blocked off
Dykes on Bikes come roaring past right where I stand
The marchers come next with their slogans and signs
The crowd is jubilant and the party begins
The beer truck is prepared with pilsner
A mobile bar with just tonic and gin
Grills mit Bratwurst, und auch vegan
The Turkish Imbiss with tons of tabouleh
Keep the way clear
The Dyke* March is here
Have no more fear
The Dyke* March is here
Where I've never felt so safe
And where no one casts a judging eye
Where I feel right at home
And for once I fit in
The scene! The dream! The scene! The dream!
What's that I hear
The Dyke* March is here
Have one more beer
The Dyke* March is here
